The Filipino gymnast bounced back from the disappointment of finishing third in the floor exercise on Friday (October 24) and nailed his landings on his way to a two-vault average of 14.866. That put him just ahead of Armenia's Artur Davtyan with Ukraine's Nazar Chepurnyi picking up bronze. In the women's balance beam final, the gold medal went to China's Zhang Qingying with a score of 15.166. Algeria's Kaylia Nemour was a distant second, the day after she took the uneven bars final which made her Africa's first gymnastic world champion. Japan's Sugihara Aiko took the bronze medal.
