Mongolia is a country rich in agriculture and raw materials with deep historical roots. However, we wanted to show the world that we are not only suppliers of raw materials, but also capable of creating finished-clothing products. Therefore, we aimed for our uniforms to gain global recognition and attract international attention, demonstrating that Mongolians do have the raw materials coupled with strong production that's aided by our distinctive cultural characteristics.” 8. We created them based on historical and traditional elements. The design is inspired by the traditional Mongolian deel garment that was commonly worn during the 13th and 15th centuries, when Mongolians were at the height of their powers. We researched and studied the origins and historical aspects of the Mongolian deel and incorporated them into our design.” 11. (MUTE) STORE WITH PRODUCTS ON DISPLAY 12. MODELS POSING STORY: Mongolia's 2026 Winter Olympics outfits are turning heads online, with many praising their traditional, cultural and heritage-inspired look. Designed by local company Goyol Cashmere, the uniforms are inspired by the Mongolian deel — a long, robe-like garment worn for centuries — and have been reimagined for the global sporting stage. "Our Mongolian deel garment truly stands out among the sports arena of outfits among many countries (going to the 2026 Winter Olympic Games)," Goyol Cashmere's Chief Executive Officer Ariunaa Byambakhuu told Reuters on Thursday (February 5). She said the team wanted the design to project Mongolians as a people with "rich culture and heritage". The uniforms are also meant to spotlight Mongolia's value beyond raw materials, Byambakhuu added. The company poured "passion, heart, effort, and hard work" into the garments, studying historical references and incorporating traditional elements, Byambakhuu said. The design, she said, was inspired by the deel styles common in the 13th to 15th centuries, a period associated with Mongolia's peak power. In Ulaanbaatar, the country's capital city, residents said the outfit's motifs – featuring mountains, water, tents and horses – reflect the national heritage while still feeling modern and wearable. One resident said the outfit made him feel Mongolia's athletes "have no choice but to succeed", as he wished them success at the Games. (Production: Bolormaa Boldbaatar, Josh D. Arslan)
