CROWD CHEERING STORY: Gabriel Avalos' lone goal handed Independiente a 1-0 win over Argentine Primera Division Group B leaders Rosario Central at the Libertadores de America on Saturday (November 15), as the hosts secured their fourth successive win. The result sees Independiente climb to 11th of the Group B table with 18 points, while Rosario Central remain top with 31, despite suffering only their second defeat of the season.  Independiente set the tempo early and were rewarded in the 28th minute when Facundo Zabala delivered a perfectly placed cross from the left that Avalos headed into the bottom corner, leaving Rosario goalkeeper Jorge Broun with no chance. Rosario tried to respond in the second half with several scoring chances, though their efforts were ultimately in vain. Gaspar Duarte's close range header in the 52nd minute forced an excellent kick save from Independiente keeper Rodrigo Rey.  Independiente's run has the squad with two points of eighth place in Group B and a spot in the Round of 16 after a faltering start to the campaign while Rosario sees their lead remain just one point better than Lanus with less than a month remaining.
