VIDEO SHOWS: POST MATCH NEWS CONFERENCE COMMENTS FROM GERMANY'S DOUBLES DUO, TIM PUETZ AND KEVIN KRAWIETZ, GERMAN SINGLES PLAYER, ALEXANDER ZVEREV, AND ARGENTINA CAPTAIN JAVIER FRANA AFTER DAVIS CUP QUARTER-FINALS / SOUNDBITES FROM PUETZ, KRAWIETZ, ZVEREV AND FRANA RESENDING WITH COMPLETE SCRIPT SHOWS: BOLOGNA, ITALY (NOVEMBER 21, 2025) (ITF – See restrictions before use) 1. (SOUNDBITE) (English) GERMANY’S DOUBLES PLAYER TIM PUETZ ON THE COMEBACK WIN OVER ARGENTINA, SAYING: “Pretty nice to be part of a match like that. Obviously easy to say now that we won, but no, what a great Davis Cup tie, what a great atmosphere, especially considering we're kind of in a neutral country. Yeah, I don't know what to say. Could have gone either way, obviously, but just so happy that it's us sitting here as winners now.” (SHOT 1 CONTINUES TO SHOT 2 AS CAMERA PANS TO KEVIN KRAWIETZ) 2. (SOUNDBITE) (English) GERMANY’S DOUBLES PLAYER KEVIN KRAWIETZ ON THE WIN, SAYING: “We are the same as Pizzi said, actually. I mean, in the end, you get a little bit of luck here and there, but in doubles, yeah, it is what it is. So, yeah, as Pizzi said, you are very happy, very proud to be in the semi-finals now.” 3. (SOUNDBITE) (English) GERMANY’S SINGLES PLAYER, ALEXANDER ZVEREV, ON HIS TEAM WINNING THE DOUBLES RUBBER, SAYING: "Yeah, I mean, unbelievable to win that. I don't know how they did it. I mean, the third set was back and forth. So many break points for Team Argentina. I don't think Germany had any. So, of course, I'm super happy for the whole team to be through. And, you know, the tie break. First it looked like it was going to be an easy tie break for us. Then all of a sudden it's match point for Argentina on their serve. Then it's another match point for Argentina, where Tim (Puetz) serves a second serve at 200 kilometers an hour (124 mph). So it's like a lot of things happened, a lot of things went our way, and I'm just super happy to win." 4. WHITE FLASH 5. (SOUNDBITE) (English) GERMANY’S SINGLES PLAYER, ALEXANDER ZVEREV, WHEN ASKED ABOUT HOW CRUCIAL HIS WIN WAS TO PUT GERMANY BACK IN THE TIE, SAYING: "Yeah, also super happy with the win and the match, because (Francisco) Cerundolo, somebody that is very difficult for me, and I felt like I played a very good first set and also in the important moments in the second played my best tennis. So I was super happy with the win and of course getting Germany back in the tie and then the doubles guys somehow managing to win was very important." 6. WHITE FLASH 7. (SOUNDBITE) (English) GERMANY’S SINGLES PLAYER, ALEXANDER ZVEREV, WHEN ASKED ABOUT HIM CHEERING FOR HIS TEAMMATES, DESPITE NOT IN FAVOUR OF THE FORMAT, SAYING: “But I will always do that. I will always do that. I will always play at 100%. I will support my team. But don't you think it's Maybe somewhere a little bit sad that this kind of match and the doubles, there were maybe a maximum of 1,000 people in the stadium. If we play in Argentina or if we play in Germany, there will be maybe 15,000 people. So in that regard, I think it's a bit sad, but now I'm here and I will do everything I can to make Germany win." 8. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ARGENTINA DAVIS CUP CAPTAIN JAVIER FRANA, ON THE DEFEAT, SAYING: “Always, in a way, it's of course tough for us to end it up like that when we were so close. But anyway, I think we feel very proud of ourselves. We fought until the end. And sometimes in sports, you get to your side and sometimes you get to the other side. I mean, we did everything very well before the tie. So we don't have anything to regret about our performance or we gave it our all. And sport is like that; tennis is like that. Sometimes there's a few inches that make the difference. So we accept it. It hurts, of course, but our spirit Now it's a little bit shaky, but it's going to be very strong from tomorrow again.” STORY: Germany fought back from an early setback to defeat Argentina 2-1 in a dramatic Davis Cup quarter-final on Thursday (November 20), booking a semi-final clash with Spain in Bologna. Argentina struck first when Tomás Martín Etcheverry unleashed 23 aces to topple Jan-Lennard Struff in two tiebreak sets, 7-6(3), 7-6(7). But Germany responded through world No. 3 Alexander Zverev, who overcame Francisco Cerúndolo 6-4, 7-6(3) to level the tie. The doubles decider delivered high drama. Argentina’s Horacio Zeballos and Andrés Molteni saved four match points and held two of their own in a tense third-set tiebreak, but Germany’s Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz held firm to clinch a 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(12-10) victory after nearly two and a half hours. Germany will face Spain—who staged their own comeback against the Czech Republic—in Saturday’s semi-final. (Production: Bhagya Ayyavoo)
