And I thought, I don't need that. It's fine. I got a 7.10pm flight to the Philippines. But these are obviously nice changes to the logistics, and I'm glad I'm missing my flight tonight." 12. FOOS PRESENTED WITH TROPHY STORY: Germany's Dominic Foos is spending an extra night in China after an astonishing come back in the final round of the Macao Open on Sunday (October 19) means he will be attending the champion's presentation. Foos, who started the day six shots off the lead, became the first German in 29 years to win an Asian Tour event after he beat Taiwan's Wang Wei-hsuan in a playoff. Overnight leader Sarit Suwannarut from Thailand, who was at the top of the leaderboard for most of the week, could only manage a three-over-par 73 and his playing partner, Australia's Brett Rankin blew his chances of winning with a final round 72. China's Ding Wenyi had a chance of joining Foos and Wang in the playoff had he holed a long eagle putt on the 18th but the ball rolled inches wide. Wang carded the lowest final round of the event with a stunning 62 and that put him in the playoff with Foos who holed a nervy six-foot putt to join him on 17-under-par. He defeated Wang on the second hole of a sudden-death shootout at the Macau Golf & Country Club, chipping out of the greenside bunker on the par-5 18th to set up a birdie opportunity. Wang missed his attempt for a four and Foos told reporters afterwards he had been expecting to fly to the Philippines on Sunday. Foos got an email on Saturday (October 18) telling him "guys in contention need to make plans accordingly and I thought, I don't need that. It's fine. I got a 7.10pm flight to the Philippines. But these are obviously nice changes to the logistics, and I'm glad I'm missing my flight tonight." Not only does he pick up a cheque for $180,000 but the win catapults him from 62nd up to 15th in the rankings and almost guarantees him a place on next year's Asian Tour. (Production: Simon Ormiston)
