From calves and shoulders to backs and arms, the five rings appear across sports as a quiet badge of achievement. For many, the tattoo marks a personal milestone. American freestyle skier Jaelin Kauf said, "After the last Olympics, a few teammates from the last Olympics, as well as from the 2018 Olympics, like we all went and got the tattoos together." U.S. women's hockey captain Hilary Knight has the Olympic rings tattooed on her shoulder. “The Olympic rings is like a rite of passage," said Knight.
