BERLIN, Oct 10 – Volkswagen Group reported a 1% increase in third-quarter global deliveries on Friday as new models helped sales in Western Europe. A boost from Europe and South America allowed the group to counter pressure from China and the United States, said Marco Schubert, member of the Group's Extended Executive Committee for Sales, in a statement. Group deliveries to China faced a decline of 7%, sandwiching the group between a 27% drop in China sales for the same period at competitor Mercedes and a smaller drop of 0.4% at BMW. Deliveries of battery electric vehicles were up 33.1% in the period from July to September at 252,100 units. The Group slashed its guidance in September and said it would take a 5.1 billion euro ($5.91 billion) hit from Porsche AG's plans to delay the rollout of all-electric models amid weak demand, pressure from a tough Chinese market and U.S. tariffs.
