(Adds more details, background from paragraph 2 onwards) Oct 25 (Reuters) – Thailand's Queen Mother Sirikit has died at the age of 93, the BBC reported on Saturday, citing the Thai Royal Household Bureau. The Queen Mother passed away "peacefully" at 9:21 p.m. (14:21 GMT) in a Bangkok hospital on Friday night, the BBC report said. Sirikit had "suffered several illnesses" while in hospital since 2019, including a blood infection this month, the BBC report said, citing the statement from the Thai Royal Household Bureau. Sirikit, who was queen consort to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who died in 2016 after seven decades on the throne, is mother to the current King Maha Vajiralongkorn.
