"Swadeshi is our love for our motherland": Uttarakhand CM Dhami

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], September 28 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday highlighted that adopting Swadeshi goes beyond economic benefits, reflecting citizens’ dedication, attachment, and love for the motherland.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP State Headquarters, he said embracing Swadeshi in daily life is key to realising the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat and a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

“Atmanirbhar Bharat is the biggest means to strengthen the resolution of Viksit Bharat by 2047 that the Prime Minister has placed before the entire country… If we adopt ‘Swadeshi’ in our habits and daily routine, and the resolve to embrace ‘Swadeshi’ is not just a means of economic strength, it is also our dedication, our attachment, and our love for our motherland,” CM Dhami said.

He added, “When we adopt Swadeshi, we not only use Swadeshi products, but it also connects us to our soil and country, and also strengthens our economy…”

On Friday, CM Dhami chaired a review meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence regarding the ongoing GST and Swadeshi Awareness Campaign in the state.

The Chief Minister stated that the new GST rates, effective from September 22, represent a significant step forward for the state’s economy and local industries, with their benefits now directly reaching the public. He urged all public representatives to make awareness activities more extensive and impactful.

He asked representatives to actively carry the campaign forward in their respective areas, reaching every trader in village councils and urban bodies. He added that through this campaign, a revolution must also be brought in promoting Swadeshi products.

Highlighting the importance of the Swadeshi campaign, he stated that increased purchasing of local products would strengthen both the state and the nation’s economies. By promoting Swadeshi products, we can realise the vision of a self-reliant India and a self-reliant Uttarakhand.

Meanwhile, earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on citizens to support the country’s ‘swadeshi’ products and encourage more purchases of Khadi products on the upcoming occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.

In the 126th episode of Mann ki Baat, the PM said that the Father of the Nation, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, emphasised the adoption of Swadeshi, Khadi being the top of it, the charm of which had faded after independence. (ANI)
