"Mourning Pakistan's loss?" BJP leader NV Subhash questions Rahul Gandhi's silence on India's Asia Cup triumph

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 16 (ANI): BJP leader NV Subhash targeted Rahul Gandhi, questioning whether the Congress leader was “mourning” Pakistan’s loss to India in the high-stakes Asia Cup 2025 match held in Dubai, where the Indian cricket team delivered an outstanding performance to secure a convincing win.

India secured a thumping seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Group A clash on Sunday, extending their dominance in T20Is against the arch-rivals to 11-3.

Speaking to ANI, Subhash said, “Is Rahul Gandhi, with his friend Asaduddin Owaisi, mourning the defeat of Pakistan in the Asia Cup held in Dubai, where India won with excellent performance?… No one gave good wishes to the Indian cricket team; this shows how Rahul Gandhi, along with his teammates, always praises the Pakistan Army even if they lose against the Indian armed forces.”

Subhash further appreciated the Indian team’s performance, stating, “We appreciate the way the Indian cricket team played… Had we withdrawn this match, BCCI could have faced suspension and India couldn’t have been able to play at the international arena…”

This Asia Cup clash was India-Pakistan’s first meet since April’s Pahalgam attack and the launching of Operation Sindoor by the Indian Armed Forces in response to it. Battling immense pressure due to these circumstances and online backlash for going ahead with the match, the Suryakumar-led Indian side maintained their dominance from ball one, clinching a seven-wicket win.

On the Asia Cup stage, India and Pakistan have met 19 times across both ODI and T201 formats. India has won 10, Pakistan has won six, and three matches were abandoned.

India beat Pakistan by six runs in New York the last time the two teams met at the 2024 T20 World Cup. Bumrah produced a magical spell to turn the match when Pakistan seemed like the clear favourites to pick up a victory.

Since the last encounter between the two arch-rivals in the T20 World Cup 2024, a lot has changed for both sides. New coaches have come in, and there has been an influx of several players. (ANI)
