Jairam Ramesh takes "revdi" jibe at PM Modi, says countdown has become for ouster of Nitish Kumar government

New Delhi [India], September 27 (ANI): Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Saturday said that the reverse count for the ouster of Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government has started as he targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his earlier potshots at the opposition parties, saying that he has begun distributing “revdis” to the people of the state ahead of assembly polls.

He also repeated Congress’ “vote chori” allegations against the BJP.

Ramesh said that Prime Minister Modi “continuously criticised” the Karnataka government for providing Rs 2,000 per month to 1.3 crore women under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, but now he himself is doing the same.

“And just yesterday, the Prime Minister announced an OTP – One Time Payment – for the women of Bihar – that too, just a few days before the implementation of the code of conduct. Along with vote chori (vote theft), now the Prime Minister is engaged in distributing vote revdi. This is clearly a desperate step, which the women of Bihar will understand very well,” he said in a post on X.

“The countdown for the Bihar government has already begun. Nitish Kumar has now become the past – and when the results come, Prime Minister Modi will also become the past,” he added.

Prime Minister Modi launched the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana for Bihar via video conferencing on Friday. During the programme, the Prime Minister directly transferred Rs 10,000 each into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women across Bihar, totalling Rs 7,500 crore.

Under the scheme, each beneficiary will receive an initial grant of Rs 10,000 via Direct Benefit Transfer, with the possibility of additional financial support of up to Rs 2 lakh in subsequent phases. The assistance can be utilised in areas of the beneficiary’s choice, including agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, tailoring, weaving, and other small-scale enterprises.

During the event, PM Modi also interacted with the beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries lauded the scheme and expressed gratitude towards PM Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

According to a press release by the PMO, the scheme, an initiative of the Government of Bihar, aims to make women Aatmanirbhar and promote women’s empowerment through self-employment and livelihood opportunities.

It will provide financial assistance to one woman from each family in the state, enabling them to start employment or livelihood activities of their choice, thereby fostering economic independence and social empowerment. (ANI)
