Columbus forward Miles Wood will miss at least a week after taking a high stick to his face during Monday's 3-2 road loss to the New Jersey Devils, Blue Jackets coach Dean Evason said on Wednesday. Wood was attempting to cross in front of the Devils' crease when New Jersey defenseman Dougie Hamilton caught him in the face, leading to a bloody cut and a four-minute penalty for high-sticking for his former teammate. Wood, 30, has one goal, a plus-1 rating, two penalty minutes and two hits in 7:58 average ice time in three games in his first season with Columbus. New Jersey selected Wood in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Draft. Wood has a career total of 183 points (92 goals, 91 assists), 552 penalty minutes, 196 blocks, 643 hits and 13.04 average ice time in 516 regular-season games for the Devils (2015-23), Colorado Avalanche (2023-25) and Blue Jackets. Columbus acquired Wood and forward Charlie Coyle from Colorado in a June 27 trade for center Gavin Brindley and two draft picks. –Field Level Media
