Patna (Bihar) [India], September 24 (ANI): Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday released the ‘Resolution for Extremely Backward Class Justice’ for Bihar, aimed at securing full rights and entitlements for the state’s ‘Bahujan communities’.
Gandhi outlined the 10 concrete resolutions, including increasing reservations in Panchayat and municipal bodies from 20 per cent to 30 per cent and implementing quotas in private colleges and universities.
Sharing a video on X, Gandhi posted, “In Bihar, to ensure that the Bahujans receive their full rights and entitlements, we have today released the historic ‘Extremely Backward Justice Resolution Letter’. It contains 10 concrete resolutions.”
“We will send the passed law to increase the 50% reservation limit for inclusion in the 9th Schedule. Reservation in Panchayat-Municipal bodies will be increased from 20% to 30%. Reservation will be implemented in all private colleges and universities. The practice of “Not Found Suitable” in appointments will be abolished. A committee will be formed to ensure proper representation in the list of Extremely Backward Classes,” the Congress leader wrote.
“Landless SC/ST/OBC/EBC individuals will be provided land (urban: 3 decimals, rural: 5 decimals). Half of the reserved seats in private schools will be allocated to SC/ST/OBC/EBC children. 50% reservation in government contracts up to ₹25 crore will be given to SC/ST/OBC/EBC. A law will be enacted to prevent atrocities against Extremely Backward Classes. 10. An authority will be established to oversee reservations, and changes to the list will only be made by the Legislative Assembly,” Gandhi futher said in pointers.
Earlier today, during the launch of ‘ATI PICHDA NYAY SANKALP ‘ in Patna, Rahul Gandhi said that during the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar, they went to different districts of Bihar and told the youth that the Constitution is being attacked.
“During the 15-day Voter Adhikar Yatra, we went to different districts of Bihar and told the youth that the Constitution is being attacked. Not just in Bihar, but in the entire nation, citizens’ rights are being snatched away… In the Parliament, I told two things in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, first, there will be a caste based census in the entire nation; second, we will tear apart the 50% reservation wall…,” Gandhi said.
Rahul Gandhi reiterated his demand for a caste census and alleged that weaker sections of society “do not receive the participation they deserve”
“Even today in this country, there are Extremely Backward Classes, Backward Classes, Dalits, tribals, and minorities, all of whom don’t receive the participation they deserve. The entire country recognises this truth. We want to conduct a caste census and show the true population of Dalits, Extremely Backward Classes, and Backward Classes in this country. The entire country should know the population of minorities, tribals, and the poor general castes. That is our ideology,” the Congress leader added.
“On the other hand,… in Uttar Pradesh, caste-based protests are prohibited… On one side is that thinking, and on the other is our thinking… We want to give a vision to the extremely backward classes…” he further said.
Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge today announced the implementation of a ten-point program if the party and its allies come to power after the polls, and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, alleged that the rights of the citizens are being “snatched away not just in Bihar but in the entire nation”
“We will implement a 10-point program when we come to power in Bihar…We have to uplift those belonging to the Backwards Classes, the Dalits and others who are deprived of their rights…,” Kharge said. (ANI)
