STORY: Local rider Matthew Beers extended his overall lead on stage two of the inaugural Gravel Burn, an 800-kilometre (500-mile) 7-day gravel bike race in South Africa on Monday (October 27). Beers started the day in the leader’s jersey before extending his lead with a back-to-back sprint win, on the 108km (67-miles) stage that traversed from Avontuur to Willowmore. In second place, it was the 2023 German Gravel champion Lukas Bau, followed by Swiss rider Simon Pellaud, in third. In the women's race, it was the French Gravel champion Axelle Dubau-Prevot leading the pack, after winning today’s stage and taking the back-to-back sprint finish.
