LAGOS, Oct 26 (Reuters) – Nigeria's Dangote Petroleum Refinery plans to more than double its production capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day (bpd), up from 650,000 bpd, its owner Aliko Dangote said on Sunday. The refinery, which started operations in January 2024, aims to end imports of refined petroleum products by Africa's biggest crude oil producer. Dangote told the media that he planned to build "Africa's biggest integrated petrochemicals plant." "This expansion …. is about confidence in our people, in the leadership of our country," he said, but did not give a timeline. Dangote said a planned listing of the refinery's shares on the Nigerian stock exchange would come in the next year. (Reporting by MacDonald Dzirutwe and Isaac Anyaogu)
