Banswara (Rajasthan) [India], September 25 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the Congress, accusing it of corruption and neglect, while asserting that the ruling BJP government is “healing the wounds” caused during the opposition party’s rule.
Addressing a public rally in Rajasthan’s Banswara, PM Modi alleged that Rajasthan had become a “centre for paper leaks” under the Congress government and claimed that crime against women, illegal liquor trade, and protection of rapists had peaked during its tenure.
“Our government is healing the wounds caused by Congress’s corruption. Rajasthan became a centre for paper leak under the Congress government. Jal Jeevan Mission was also sacrificed for corruption. Crime against women was at its peak. Rapists were being protected. Crime and the illegal liquor business thrived in regions like Banswara, Dungarpur, and Pratapgarh. But when the BJP was given a chance, we strengthened the law and order… New projects are being launched…” he said.
Referring to the period before 2014, PM Modi said that the Congress government had burdened citizens with excessive taxation.
“2014 ke pehle ki baat kar raha hoon. Yeh jo Bayaan-bahadur bhanti bhanti ke jhooth phaila rahe hain. Congress Sarkar 100 rupay ki khareed pa 31 rupay tax leti thi. You may recall that 11 years ago, the conditions were under Congress’s rule. The reason was that Congress was busy exploiting the citizens. They were looting the people of the country. Tax and inflation were skyrocketing. Our government stopped Congress’s loot. The reason for their anger is also this. In 2017, we brought GST and freed the country from the shackles of tax and toll. Now, the GST reforms were implemented on the first day of Navaratri. The entire nation is celebrating ‘GST Bachat Utsav’…” he added.
PM Modi also accused Congress of neglecting the Adivasi community. “Congress always neglected the Adivasi community. They could never understand their needs. The BJP government prioritised the Adivasi community and established a separate ministry. Tribal Ministry was formed for the first time during Atal Ji’s government… No one could imagine it during the Congress rule that tribal regions could get such huge projects…” PM Modi asserted.
Calling for self-reliance, PM Modi stressed the need for promoting “Swadeshi products.”
“Our aim is Atmanirbhar Bharat. Hum kisi aur par nirbhar na rahein, yeh ab bahut avashyak hai… The path to it goes through the Swadeshi mantra… Anything produced in our nation is Swadeshi, no matter which country the company or the brand belongs to…” PM Modi told the gathering.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated multiple development projects worth over Rs 1,22,100 crore, jointly undertaken by the central and state governments, at Banswara in Rajasthan. He also flagged off three trains: Vande Bharat Express Train between Bikaner and Delhi Cantt, Vande Bharat Express Train between Jodhpur and Delhi Cantt, and Udaipur City – Chandigarh Express.
The Prime Minister further interacted with beneficiaries of the ‘PM-KUSUM’ scheme from Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka. (ANI)
